THE PERSONALITY OF HOLY SPIRIT
HOLY SPIRIT PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER

HOLY SPIRIT IS GIVEN BY THE FATHER
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever – John 14:16.
HOLY SPIRIT IS GIVEN BY CHRIST
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
Because the LORD has anointed and commissioned me
To bring good news to the humble and afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted,
To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives
And freedom to prisoners, To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD,
And the day of vengeance and retribution of our God,
To comfort all who mourn, To grant to those who mourn in Zion the following:
To give them a turban instead of dust [on their heads, a sign of mourning],
The oil of joy instead of mourning,
The garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit.
So they will be called the trees of righteousness [strong and magnificent, distinguished for integrity, justice, and right standing with God],
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. – Isa. 61:1-3.
HOLY SPIRIT IS GIVEN THROUGH CHRIST’S INTERCESSION
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever – John 14:16.
HOLY SPIRIT IS SENT IN THE NAME OF CHRIST
But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. – John 14:26.
HOLY SPIRIT IS SENT BY CHRIST FROM THE FATHER

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. – John 16:7.
HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD
HOLY SPIRIT AS JEHOVAH
He named the place [where this miracle occurred] Massah (test) and Meribah (contention) because of the quarreling of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the [patience of the] LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us, or not?” Ex. 17:7.
Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, “TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS [your fathers did] IN THE REBELLION [of Israel at Meribah],ON THE DAY OF TESTING IN THE WILDERNESS, – Heb. 3:7-9.
And He said,“Hear now My words:If there is a prophet among you,I the LORD will make Myself known to him in a visionAnd I will speak to him in a dream. – Num.12:6.
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. – 2 Pet. 1:21.
HOLY SPIRIT AS JEHOVAH OF HOSTS
And one called out to another, saying, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is filled with His glory.” – Isa. 6:3.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on listening, but do not understand;Keep on looking, but do not comprehend.’ “Make the heart of this people insensitive,Their ears dull,And their eyes dim,Otherwise they might see with their eyes,Hear with their ears,Understand with their hearts,And return and be healed.” – Isa. 6:8-10.
They disagreed among themselves and they began to leave after Paul had made one last statement: “The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers, saying, ‘GO TO THIS PEOPLE AND SAY, “YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND,YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE; “FOR THE HEART (the understanding, the soul) OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL (calloused),AND WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR,AND THEY HAVE SHUT THEIR EYES [to the truth];OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT SEE WITH THEIR EYES,AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS,AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN [to Me],AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.” -Acts 28:25-27.
HOLY SPIRIT AS JEHOVAH, MOST HIGH
Yet they still continued to sin against HimBy rebelling against the Most High in the desert. – Ps. 78:17.
You stiff-necked and stubborn people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are always actively resisting the Holy Spirit. You are doing just as your fathers did. – Acts 7:51.
HOLY SPIRIT INVOKED AS JEHOVAH
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). Prompted by the Spirit, he came into the temple [enclosure]; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for Him the custom required by the Law, Simeon took Him into his arms, and blessed and praised and thanked God, and said, “Now, Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to leave [this world] in peace,According to Your word; – Luke 2:26-29.
After Peter and John were released, they returned to their own [people] and reported everything that the chief priests and elders had said to them. And when they heard it, they raised their voices together to God and said, “O Sovereign Lord [having complete power and authority], it is You who MADE THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH AND THE SEA, AND EVERYTHING THAT IS IN THEM, who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David, Your servant, said, ‘WHY DID THE NATIONS (Gentiles) BECOME ARROGANT and RAGE,AND THE PEOPLES DEVISE FUTILE THINGS [against the Lord]? – Acts 4:23-25.
Brothers and sisters, it was necessary that the Scripture be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the lips of David [king of Israel] about Judas [Iscariot], who acted as guide to those who arrested Jesus. For in the book of Psalms it is written, ‘LET HIS PLACE OF RESIDENCE BECOME DESOLATE,AND LET THERE BE NO ONE TO LIVE IN IT’;and [again], ‘LET ANOTHER TAKE HIS POSITION AS OVERSEER.’ Acts 1:16,20.
HOLY SPIRIT AS GOD
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and [secretly] keep back for yourself some of the proceeds [from the sale] of the land? “As long as it remained [unsold], did it not remain your own [to do with as you pleased]? And after it was sold, was the money not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this act [of hypocrisy and deceit] in your heart? You have not [simply] lied to people, but to God.” – Acts 5:3-4.

HOLY SPIRIT AS OMNIPRESENT
Where can I go from Your Spirit?Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead), behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn,If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Your hand will lead me,And Your right hand will take hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me,And the night will be the only light around me,” Even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You,But the night shines as bright as the day;Darkness and light are alike to You. For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. – Ps. 139:7-13.

HOLY SPIRIT AS THE SPIRIT OF GLORY AND OF GOD

All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; – 2 Tim. 3:16.
