JEHOVAH – THE ONLY GOD – DIVINE TITLES – INDICATING THE NATURE AND CHARACTER OF GOD

EL

The title “EL” (God, Singular) occurs about 250 times in the Bible and signifies “Strong”, “First” showing God to be the MIGHTY ONE, the first great cause of all. First mention is in Genesis Ch.14:18,19,20,22. “MOST HIGH GOD” (EL) possessor of heaven and earth. This title is generally joined with one or more of the Divine attributes.

“And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the MOST HIGH GOD (EL).” (Gen. 14:18)

“And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the MOST HIGH GOD (EL), possessor of heaven and earth:” (Gen.14:19)

“And blessed be the MOST HIGH GOD (EL), which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.” (Gen.14:20)

“And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD (EL) THE MOST HIGH GOD (EL), the possessor of heaven and earth,” (Gen.14:22)

ELOAH

The title “ELOAH” (God, Singular) occurs about 56 times and signifies God as the ADORABLE ONE, the one supreme object of worship. First mention Deut. 32:15. Then it occurs often in the book of Job.

“then he forsook God (ELOAH) which made him,” (Job. 32:15)

ELAH

Elah (God, Singular) the Chaldee word corresponding to Eloah occurs 77 times in the books of Ezra and Daniel with one verse in Jeremiah (Ch.10:1)

“HEAR ye the word which the LORD (ELAH) speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:” (Jer. 10:1)

ELOHIM

Elohim (God, Plural of Eloah) occurs 2500 times. First mention Gen1:1.

“In the beginning God (ELOHIM) created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen. 1:1)

I AM THAT I AM

I continue to be and will be what I continue to be. First mention EX. 3:14.

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. (Ex. 3:14)
